Yes, it happened. My parents remember it well also. I grew up playing in
the interstake center as that was my home ward building, but I was very young when the Warriors used it. I think that they only used it for a year or so while their new place was under construction. It is pretty funny to think that a NBA team's best option for a basketball court is an LDS church. It is also somewhat surprising that the church would let them use it, since I am sure there was some choice language used during the practices.
