I was on that football team. I had not heard anything about the card before the game. It was a secret kept between a circle of players, which I was not in. Anyways, after the game I'm just walking in the line shaking everybody's hands (I probably shook your hand then), and all of a sudden a have this grown man twice my size in Mountain Crest gear that I didn't know yelling within a foot of my face that he was going to rip off my head and kill me. I completely believed him too, the guy was psycho. Up to that point in my life, I don't know if I had ever been that scared and I had no idea why this guy was coming at me since I didn't see the card hand-off. All of a sudden, one of our coaches edged his way in between us and pushed him out of the way to save me.
Later I found out it was Lofthouse's older brother that I guess helped coach the team in some aspect. I don't know what actually happened after that, but rumor among our team was that he was banned from high school sporting events for life (probably not true, but what I heard anyways). It was a big deal at Box Elder after that. Our guys who did it got in big trouble for about 3 weeks. They had to do something like 20 hours of community service and were not allowed to serve as captain anymore, which was all forgotten after 3 weeks or so.
But yes, to add to your comment, Matt is one of the best people I've met. I always had a lot of respect for him because I never saw him being a jerk to anybody ever. Pretty impressive considering the fact that he was one of the top dogs in high school for so long.
