There is something that I think is huge that isn't getting much attention:
The fact that Taysom Hill and the wide receivers have time to work on timing routes and chemistry in the offseason. Last year Taysom was just trying to get healthy. A lot of the offseason was rehab and gaining trust in his knee again. He wasn’t able to work on his throwing motion or throw hundreds of balls to every receiver. He couldn’t work on the quick slant, the hitch, or the post corner. These throws (and many others) usually need to be made before the player makes his cut, and that requires timing, trust, and chemistry. Many have complained about Taysom waiting for a guy to get open to throw the ball, and then it was too late. He has the time to work on throwing the ball before a guy gets open because of the work he is able to put in this offseason.

This year we have already heard about Taysom getting help on his throwing motion so that he can become a better passer. He has all off-season with the WR’s to get the timing down on every route. The guys like Apo, Matthews, Kurtz, Henderson, Houk, Mahina, and Davis have a slight edge because of being able to get a head start in Spring Ball. Blackmon, Leslie, and Dye will need to work extra hard to get that chemistry and trust going with Taysom so that he is confident in all of them.

I think this is the main reason I am confident that Taysom will improve as a passer this year. We saw the improvement in the latter part of last season. Now it’s time to see him make the next jump and be around 65% every game. He has the talent to do it and I believe that he will.
