So, the consensus of CB is that the main reason the game was close was luck?
Listen, I definitely think that BYU is the better team and SHOULD win this game. But playing devils advocate for a second, calling a pick 6 luck, or a kick-off return luck, is a cop out IMHO. They were able to slice through us at ease quite a bit that game. If you're going to look at this game objectively, it's not right to say they were lucky and we weren't. We had 3 picks, they had 3 picks. And kick returns happen all the time, I don't think they are luck. Their guy found the seam and we broke down. To me that's like saying "That RB is lucky he found that hole and broke it 30 yards. If he went to the other hole we had two guys!!". Hard to say that's luck. We had a crazy 24 point first quarter, but they were matching us stride for stride. If they hadn't returned the kickoff for a TD, who's to say they don't march it down the field like they did so many other times?

If we're looking at this game objectively, they finished 8-5 and had a bowl game letdown vs Vandy. In the regular season, they lost to 4 solid teams and never by more than a TD. They also routed just about everyone else on their schedule. They had a very similar season to us, and when we played it came down to a 1 point win in the final minutes, and an amazing interception to keep them from getting into FG range. If Fua doesn't have eyes in the back of his head and they complete that pass and they are almost in FG range. They shut us out in the 3rd and the fourth was 13-6 because of Fua's pick.

I was trying to point out that almost everyone I've talked to is overlooking them, and looking at all the "they were lucky" and "the refs almost cost us" posts above, seems like I made my point.. They are going to be really good this year.
