If i remember right, he was, essentially, a 3rd stringer that got pressed into service and did a great job. He looked poised in the pocket and had a gun. (95 mph fastball, as i recall).

That late hit vs. Utah is one of the reasons i hate Utah so badly. (okay...plenty of other reasons, but, i could chalk a lot of that just to rivalry.) that hit ended his career in football and baseball.

that hit also pressed Tom young into the starting role for the bowl game in Hawaii. started the season as 4th string, i believe.
