Whatever the nomenclature, I am saying that Williams is most effective on the
edges, off-tackle, or from a pass in open space. There were a whole lot of plays, particularly in the early season, that looked to me like plain "dives". I saw more read-option as the year went on, but watch the Virginia game again. They'd run to the line in an absolute hurry, snap the ball as fast as they could, and DIVE Williams through the center-guard gap. Hill wasn't reading tackles or linebackers, and the Defense knew it was coming. Basically wasted a down. He'd get a yard, they'd wait two plays, and do it again.
