...one of the problems last year was due to transitioning into a new offensive system that is hard on the OL in particular. Then you add to that the injuries and lack of depth we had with that group and it forced a lot of shuffling and impacted the overall chemistry of the group. The chemistry of an OL is a vital ingredient of a successful OL and can trump individual talent in some cases. When it's lacking even individually talented players can look bad.

If our OL this year just finds some chemistry that will be a huge improvement over last year, then results will follow. If we get guys like Ryker Mathews etc returning 100% healthy and some of the newbies like Tuni Kanuch, Edward Fusi and Brayden Kearsley progress through experience after a year in the system we'll have 3 things we didn't have last year, depth, talent and experience (and some attitude).

Small incremental improvements in a few key areas in a group can add up to a big improvement overall and can more often than not be more effective than sweeping overhauls, massive redesigns, etc.

Plus, Phil Steele knows his stuff and gave support to the notion that our OL will be much improved.
