It is ridiculous to compare them because we are in the continental US. Like
several east-coast cities, DC borders states. Philly borders New Jersey and Delaware (close enough). NYC borders NJ and CT. DC is a huge metropolitan area. Last I checked, it is the 7th biggest in the country. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Metropolitan_Statistical_Areas
Why neglect the 7th biggest metropolitan area in the country? Today the box is in Baltimore. I doubt the Virginia box will be in a DC suburb.
