For planned procedures you can get the information like you did.
The tough ones are when you are sitting in the doctor's office or hospital and they suggest you have something done at that moment. Then you are in a pickle because you would prefer to do it right then because you are there but you have no idea how much it will cost you. So you either get the codes and leave to wait a week before your insurance company tells you the price or you gamble and get it done right away not knowing if you can afford it.

I have tried both of these methods in the past for me or one of my children and it has always been a frustrating process. I am glad your experience went well with getting the price. How long did you have to wait to hear back from the insurance company after asking them the cost?
