No one looks down on the Yewties more than I, but at that time,
they were just a few years removed from their two BCS wins. A lot of why they got in was dumb luck, but they had done enough to get some attention.
It is obvious that BYU was largely passed over for even consideration due to religious and political bigotry/snobbery from a few of the PAC schools.
