There were too many issues to address, so I didn't bother. But I'll just say that the fact that BYU generates revenues and attracts sponsors does NOT suggest the benefits BYU brings to the table are either (a) sufficient to overcome the costs, both financial and non-financial, of affiliating with BYU, or (b) greater than the net benefits another school offers the conference.
Saying, "See, BYU attracts sponsors ... neener neener ... the Pac-12 made a mistake" is simply illogical. Passing on BYU hardly reflects an opinion that BYU provides no value.
Furthermore, the primary decision makers at the Pac-12 are more businessmen than academics. Larry Scott doesn't have an academic bone in his body.
