The bulk of boomer kids were 'lock key' kids -- who had both parents working and basically had to grow up on their own. They hit college and turned into 'Generation X' kids mostly.

What we're seeing now is the tail end of the 'boom echo'. They're either the last child (i.e. the baby) of middle class boomers or the only child of the 80's DINKs who hit their mid-life crisis and finally decided to have their '1.5 children'.
