I was on a business trip and driving through the Roy area on a residential street. I saw a girl about 8 or 9 years old running toward my car on the sidewalk and waving her arms, sobbing and yelling "help, help, please help". She was beyond hysterical. I of course thought something serious was going on and pulled over quickly and jumped out of my car and braced myself for whatever I was going to encounter.
I tried to get some information quickly from her as to what was happening, but she was too hysterical to talk, voice breaking, sobs, etc., so I ran after as she led me back to her house and into the front door. On the floor inside the front door was a dying kitten. The kitten had been accidently stepped on by her older brother and it obviously not going to make it. I was sad to see the dying kitten, but BIG TIME relieved that it was only a kitten. I swear I thought I was going to find a wounded or dead body inside the house the way the girl was acting.
I helped her call her mother and talked with the mom for a minute, then felt that I could leave. Wow, talk about unexpected drama with no advance warning.
