I went to Texas A&M for grad school (pre-Manziel unfortunately) and the students in my program all tailgated together before every home game. It was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Hanging out with friends, watching other games, eating great food, and watching the couple of lushes in my program act the fool was always a great time.

Sounds like you were walking around a tailgate Mikey and not actually tailgating. Some schools have some various activities to do before hand, but that's more school sponsored pre-game festivities and not tailgating.
