I don't like the NFL overtime rules either. The whole "sudden death/not sudden death on a FG, but a FG is good enough to win if the other team doesn't score on their next possession" thing is kind of gimmicky too. I think the overtime rules should be similar to basketball where you just keep playing for a set amount of time. I haven't decided what the correct amount of time is but I think it should be between 5 and 8 minutes. If still tied at the end of that period play another overtime.

The main criticism of this change would be that games could go on for too long. I'm actually okay with regular season ties, either after regulation or after 2 overtime periods (so each team could receive the ball once).
