I used to work with a former college basketball star, who then went on to
the NBA for a few years before his career fizzled out with knee injuries. He was married and had a couple kids. Really nice guy, but it was clear he hadn't had any other work experience outside of basketball. After about a year, he left the company we were with and got involved with an MLM (no he's not Mormon and this was not in Utah). I know he was working hard to provide for his family, but he just seemed kind of lost, a bit. I think you're right that once you reach that level, real life, the way most people experience it, is a difficult adjustment.
