Actually, if it were a yewt, I would still think that it's stupid. There is no
reason to revel in someone's misfortunes regardless of what brought it about. Were I in a similar situation, I would hope that others would extend the same courtesy to me. Let's say that all that you say is true, is it right that he should be judged so harshly simply because he had an ego and was high on his own self importance? It is also possible that there exists a perfectly rational explanation for his behavior and you took it as a personal affront and are now using his misfortune to justify your detestation of him as an individual. When it all shakes out in the wash, I have learned that I want my accusers to be as merciful with me as hopefully I am with them. It would be a sad day if my ill-fated attempts at humor or laziness or other things were judged so harshly simply because I did not afford some leniency to others in the similarly ill-fated attempts to simply live their lives. Regardless of the justification, how one person treats the downtrodden and especially one who has fallen from his pedestal reveals a lot about the bystander. Maybe with more life experience, compassion will be acquired. Regardless of how incredibly well we've lived our lives, we all make mistakes and require some help in overcoming our problems.
