Hardly anyone recognizes that Notre Dame's NY6 "access" is a maximum of TWO times in 12 years. And non-CFP ND has to be ranked higher than the non-CFP SEC and Big Ten - which means that ND would probably be in an NY6 bowl game anyway.
Also, note that Notre Dame is currently ranked in the top 10; but bowl predictions have them playing Oregon State in the Sun Bowl. Besides the payout, is the Miami Beach Bowl versus a likely ranked AAC runner-up really that much worse than the Sun Bowl (El Paso, remember) versus a likely UNranked PAC 12 opponent?
I don't think BYU's position is as dire as some claim.
