The almost certainly have to run the table to be in that discussion, but I believe much like the NCAA basketball committee generally gets it right, they will in good faith try to pick the 4 best teams. I don't think there will be any back room conspiracy to keep BYU out. If BYU doesn't have the resume', there won't be any need to and if they do have the resume', they won't want to invite controversy if they can avoid it.

It's still unlikely we get to that point. Perfection is hard, even for the teams with the most advantages. But if we get there, we'll get a fair shake...and our schedule this year deserves scrutiny. It's not last years and it's not next years. It beats the BCS busters of the past...but it's not up to just about any P-5 schedule. It is what it is.

Even with that, winning is hard and if you win them all you merit consideration. If there is a lot of cannabilism in the P-5 and BYU runs the table, 1984 can happen again...except this time we have to get two more wins against two top 4 teams. But all anyone wants is that chance.

If BYU ran the table and got left out, you see an 8 team playoff much quicker. It's going to happen eventually. That just provides some spark to make it happen quicker. We changed the paradigm once, maybe we change it again...
