The chances of completing a first down on that play are slim, even with our offense. The chances of throwing an interception are high, the chances of getting sacked and losing more yardage is high. In that situation, with the score what it was, in that area of the field, you almost always run the ball to try to pick up a few more yards and then punt and start over. It's like throwing the ball out of bounds when there is no chance of completing the pass and you are being rushed by the defense. Sometimes the best thing you can do is live to fight another drive.
The fact that BYU fans booed that play call was embarrassing to me.
