DOs and MDs both need residency training after graduation
Osteopathic/DO and Allopathic/MD schools are separate, but the training is extremely similar.
DOs often complete residency programs that are intended for and administrated by MDs.
Historically there may have been a difference, but aside from perceived prestige and possibly competition for admission, there is little different between DOs and MDs.
