Olajuwon were the following factors:
1. Kaufusi's size, strength, speed, hops, and inexperience as a freshman is comparable;
2. Rose's frame of reference for highly athletic bigs was Olajuwon because they were teammates at UH;
3. When Olajuwon arrived at the Houston Airport to visit, no one was there to greet him and he was told by phone to take a taxi; No one from BB team greeted CK
4. Olajuwon redshirted his first year by NCAA rule and was played sparingly the next season, his redshirt freshman year. CK literally had to ask for a chance to work out.
5. After playing pickup games the entire offseason with the great Moses Malone, Olajuwon's improvement shocked everyone. After his junior year, he was drafted #1, ahead of MJ, Barkley, and Stockton. Perhaps because i have seen Corbin play in summer pickup games, i wasn't moved or surprised by Rose's comparison. Whether he develops his game anywhere near that of Olajuwon depends on many unknowns and i bet Rose agrees it is a long shot.
On the other hand, there isn't anyone on Gonzaga who has the goods to match Kaufusi's power and speed if he will use his brain and his passion to learn the BYU system between now and 12/29/14.
