Can you answer an honest question?
How did the following win their way in? Note all of these joined while it was a BCS issue and not a P5 issue...

Temple - original football member of Big East; asked to leave in 2005; brought back out of desperation in 2012
Connecticut - joined FBS in 2000, joined Big East in 2004
Louisville - joined Big East in 2005; joined ACC in 2014
Cincinnati - joined Big East in 2005
South Florida - Joined FBS in 2001; joined CUSA 2003; joined Big East in 2005
UCF - joined FBS in 1996; joined CUSA 2005; joined AAC in 2013
Houston - joined AAC in 2013
SMU - joined AAC in 2013
Memphis - joined AAC in 2013

Now there are others that were selected to join a BCS conference and then Oops BCS went away and they were left to join a non-P5 conference.

East Carolina - joined AAC in 2014 (agreed as BCS/arrived as non-P5)
Tulsa - joined AAC in 2014 (agreed as BCS/arrived as non-P5)
Tulane - joined AAC in 2014 (agreed as BCS/arrived as non-P5)
Navy - will joined AAC in 2015 (agreed as BCS/arrived as non-P5)

Then two teams selected to join and agreed to terms and then backed out...

Boise St - agreed to join for 2014 but pulled out
San Diego St - agreed to join for 2014 but pulled out

Now if we are talking about winning your way in as the reason teams were selected then Boise St gets a pass in as well like Utah (joined 2011)/TCU (joined in 2012).

Best seasons before being selected:
ECU 11-1 in 1991 (two 10+ win seasons in prior history)
Cincinnati 10-1 in 1951 (that was only 10+ win season in prior history)
Connecticut 9-3 in 2003 (no 10+ win seasons in FBS history)
UCF 11-3 in 2010 (three 10+ win seasons in prior FBS history - and all in the 2000's)
Louisville 11-1 in 2004 (three 10+ win seasons in prior history)
South Florida 9-2 in 2002 (no 10+ win seasons in FBS history)
Houston 13-1 in 2011 (seven 10+ win seasons in prior history - also former SWC member)

Memphis 10-0 in 1938 (one 10+ win season in prior history)
Temple 10-2 in 1979 (one 10+ win season in prior history)
Tulsa 10-0 in 1916 (nine 10+ win seasons in prior history)
Tulane 12-0 in 1998 (three 10+ win seasons in prior history)
Navy 10-1-1 in 1905 (three 10+ win seasons in prior history)

SMU 12-1 in 1935 or 11-0-1 in 1982 (five 10+ win seasons in prior history - also former SWC member - never more than 8 wins since death penalty)

SDSU 11-0 in 1969 (first year up in PCAA/Big West prior to the FBS/FCS split in 1978) actual best record after joining FBS WAC in 1978 is 9-4 in 2010 & 2012 (zero 10+ win seasons since officially being FBS level but 7 times before joining FBS)

Under the "win to get in" like I said before - BSU gets a pass, Houston/SMU being former SWC may get a pass - but please honestly explain how any of those others won their way in?

You should already know how BYU compares to them 13-0 in 1984 with sixteen 10+ win seasons in their prior history...and a current NCAA record (tied with others) of 14 wins in a season (not best winning percentage as others have finished 14-0 while BYU was 14-1). This record may very well fall this year with the playoffs...

If winning to get in was in any way shape or form what happened with these realignments then there were a lot of balls dropped in the process...so lets not use that as a fact of why anyone of them was selected. Could it have been a component - sure on the surface - looking at that data above - it was very small....
