That the players are talented?
The scheme is solid?
And the play calls are at least fine?
Can all of those be true at the same time? And the D still suck?
I look at our defensive players...and it looks like a very talented group
The scheme has proven to be solid. BYU defenses have been very good in the past with this same scheme.
I don't see too many defensive play calls that are horrible...at least not enough to account for 30+ points a game.
Maybe the players are just getting beat 1-1 (talented, but not focused)?
Maybe players are out of position? Not executing (gasp! the "e" word) the called play properly?
Maybe the issues are on the mental preparation parts of the game?
Of course, these types of issues would indicate coaching failures as well.
Is it possible that both the D coaches, and D players are equally responsible for a crappy D?
