defensive talent and speed is down from past years
And we are playing some more talented but inexperienced guys. It really doesn't matter what defensive scheme we run, we are going to struggle defensively a bit until we get better and/or more experienced players.

I won't name names, but we have some des and lbs this year who just aren't very good. Davis is a converted wr playing cb who might be fine over time, but right now is playing very average.

i think our defensive recruiting was pretty good last year and so far this year. Problem is a lot of those more talented dl are on missions and won't help us for a few years. Warner and Takitaki need more reps and are talented, but realistically are limited somewhat by lack of experience. Seems like Warner is thinking too much rather than reacting, which will come with experience. I am not sure what to say about the mlbs. They haven't played well and #22 and #44 have been a bust, disappointment for a guys with promise out of hs and 3 years in the system. We really under appreciated guys like Unga, Hadley, Kaveinga, and Ogletree in the middle the past several years. Even a guy like Bauman who was solid would be an upgrade over this group.
