I'm pretty sure you only read the title of my post, but I'll bite anyway
For the purposes of the point I'm trying to make, the fact that there are differences between the points of contention is interesting besides the point. Each religion has its difficulties, but what I'm saying is we intrinsically see the problems of a group we don't belong to as worse than the group that we're a part of, because humans are biased like that. Being purposefully blind to this fact and deciding that bashing a group is OK because you've heard some people who say they're a part of that group do bad things leads to both ignorant anti-LDS comments in sltrib and ignorant anti-Muslim comments in freerepublic (to give two random examples). It's the same mechanism behind both type of comments, the only difference is the group that you decide you want to take a lazy "do-the-research-on-youtube" swipe at.
