I often ask this of people who keep repeating this false line of thinking; and so far nobody has really ever answered what that really means.
You do know that before conversations would have even occurred with BYU that teams were contractually allowed to have their Tier 3 games broadcast by any means they chose.
The LHN existed (or was in the works) for Texas. Some try to claim - well they're Texas, they are the big dog and they get to do what they want and it isn't the same for BYU...
OUtv exists...another big school BYU shouldn't expect to be?
Ostate.tv exists for OSU...kind of big...
Baylortv.com exists...kind of big...
K-StateHD.tv exists...kind of big...
TexasTech.tv exists...umm they've had an exciting offense under a previous coach...
Jayhawk TV network exists...but they're a basketball school...
Cyclone.tv exists for Iowa State...got nothin'?
Other teams sell their Tier 3 rights to a local broadcaster... (TCU/WVU don't seem to have "networks" whether streaming only or carried by local cable providers)
Just how was BYUtv what kept BYU out of the B12? In all honesty it may have been a bigger draw than a detriment as most teams in that conference did want to know what BYU was doing with their network, why was it cutting edge and how they could duplicate and monetize their own networks....
