Watching AFR last was pretty insightful
While they failed to tackle many of the issues and questions head on, what they were inferring was pretty insightful.

In a very nice manner, they were pointing out all the failed execution of the defense. They demonstrated several cases where the defenders weren't keeping to their assignments or sticking to their roles in the defense. In particular, they focused on Kaufusi several times as he failed to isolate the edge and allowed rushers to get around the edge on several occasions. He should have been protecting the edge, forcing the rush inside to other waiting defenders. Instead they were able to quickly get around the edge to the secondary and this is without a lead blocker paving the way in the flat. That is just a plain breakdown of execution.

I can now see where Bronco is coming from on the execution front. If the defensive players were just doing the basics of what they are supposed to do, it would have a fair impact on the opposing offense.

This leads to two possible conclusions in my book:

1 - Are the defense players just not that good are doing what they are supposed to do?
2 - Or is coaching to blame for them not knowing their assignments on defense?
