It doesn't
Everyone here on this board agrees on one thing... Lavell Edwards was a GREAT coach.

During the early 1980's Lavell was an innovator who changed the game of football. Fortunately for him a that time the honor code wasn't enforced as it is today. During the last 10 years of his career this GREAT coach saw a marked decrease in success. In my opinion the reasons for this were college football adapted, and cought up to what he started. The honor code also became more of an issue with increased exposure and therefore had to be enforced at a higher level. With these limitations the GREAT coach had a very comparable record to the coach we now have that you are hades bent needs to be fired.

That is why there are comparisons to Lavell. For some reason you can't look past your hatred of Bronco to see the fact of the matter.. BYU is what it is, unless it gets rid of the honor code, it will never be an elite football program. I wold absolutely love to see them wih multiple undefeated seasons, but the GREAT coach BYU had was only able to do that once in almos 30 years and had a much easier road to do so (in my opinion the 80's-90's WAC/MWC wasn't nearly as good as the last few years of the MWC).

The last 3 games have been frustrating, but you have to take into consideration the injuries. All of the fire Bronco crowd point out that the team had leads the last two games and lost that lead. I agree that has been frustrating, but when your best players aren't on the field, consistancy will be an issue. You will point out we still have more than half of our starters... But please at least acknowledge that ALL of the injuries we have had have been absolutely the worst case scenarios. ALL of our impact players have been effected by the injuries. There isn't an athlete on the team like Hill. Add Williams, and our two biggest offensive threats haven't been part of the game for the games. That is going to hurt. Add Hine and your special teams takes a huge hit. Then on Defense our two best athletes in Bills and Fua and suddenly the defense is in the same position as the offense. Your team captains and leaders are gone.As much as you want to deny it, that is going to have a negative impact on how a team is going to perform.

You hate Bronco... we all get that, so fire him as that is always the best answer if a team loses a few games. At least acknowledge he has done as well as a GREAT coach with a comparable situation, and has been dealt one heck of a bummer hand this season.
