I've even started the Wheel of Time because of him, although I don't recommend it if you don't like slow-developing story lines...
I agree with GOT, I was two books in and felt no desire to continue reading. I think it's because everything happens like it would in the "real world," as in bad people usually win, good people sometimes die, etc. There is nothing fantastic or hopeful or uplifting about the plot. It's like reading a story about this year's BYU football season. I live that crap, I don't want to read about it.
