I was talking more about the form rather than the substance.
Forgive me for making light of the situation (or writing). I am actually quite sympathetic. I was diagnosed with ADD or ADHD and was medicated with Ritalin as a child. I hated the stuff. As a child my parents were convinced I needed it so I could do as well in school as I was capable. As I got older, I convinced them to let me stay off medication if I could maintain a perfect GPA. No other motivation could have moved me to meet that goal, but not having to deal with Ritalin did it.

The other takeaway is that I was able to discipline myself against the ADD. Of course, that wasn't until I started middle school. As a kid in elementary school I never could have kept myself in control.
