If I were a leader in the Church hopefully I wouldn't give a rat's backside
about BYU athletics. I don't see it as much of a "missionary tool" (even if we were to make a big national splash). I'm not generally a fan of media-generated proselyting.
As a longtime fan & alumnus, though, I expect excellence in our sports. We have too much interest, tradition & potential within our culture & community to not aim high.
