Probably don't get outside of Utah County very often, but in:

Washington= University of Washington is called "The U" (not U-Dub).
Florida= University of Miami is called "The U."
Utah = University of Utah calls itself "The U."

Hmmm, see a trend? You must also REALLY enjoy when people say, "I hope we do well this weekend...." ("REALLY?! ARE YOU ON THE TEAM?! HAHAHAHA!!!!" *self-five*)
