Ok, but that's not what the money says
The money says fans like going to bowl games... hence there not are way too many of them.

If I were designing college football, I'd agree with you. But I'm not.

As a fan, I'm always up for watching my teams play during my Christmas break from work. At least I know those games will be My Team vs Opponent with Winning Record.

As a fan of teams who have been in conferences with lots of teams that have 2-3 win seasons regularly (eg New Mexico, UNLV, Wyoming) having another game on the schedule likely worth watching is something I'll do.

And apparently something many fans will do.

Hence whining about limiting bowls and about FCS games is wasted time. Both things generate $$$ for FBS teams which apparently is what FBS football is about these days.
