"I also don't believe your claim that there are other teams without NFL guys..."
"...that are better than BYU on defense."

This is a whole 'nother discussion regarding Bronco. There are a ton of variables in this discussion. Bronco fans say he does more with less, critics say he gets good players but can't develop them for the next level of play. Which comment is more true and contributes to his not having more future NFL guys playing on his defense.

I think one thing that is very clear, is when he has special players (like Ziggy, KVN, Danny Sorenson, etc) and a strong cast of supporting players he can put together a really fun to watch defense. 2012 was the first time in 35+ yrs of following BYU football that I found myself fast forwarding through the offensive series so that I could get to BYU's next series on defense. The creativity Bronco showed in 2012 was impressive. Because Ziggy was so impressive up front Bronco routinely ran a 2-4-5 scheme and could get enough pressure up front without having to bring the house.

Later when Joe Sampson got kicked off the team Bronco used a couple of different athletic LB's in the nickel role (Fua played some here along with Spencer Hadley). About the only thing that defense didn't do really well was create turnovers. We gave up the ball 25 times on offense and only forced 22 on defense and think we were just fair in that category.
