I'm happy that my career is following a path I wanted. I've risen from junior developer to sort of a mid-level guy. Now I've been assigned the role as lead developer on a fairly big project. The biggest challenge so far has been that the rest of my team is in India. I feel like I would have more work done if I was working alone than what we have accomplished so far, just because so much of my energy is going into figuring out how to coordinate everything and makings sure everyone has what they need. You compound the time difference with the language and cultural barriers and this has been a very frustrating experience for me. I understand why companies outsource, but I wonder how much money is lost due to the factors I've mentioned.
