And so it starts.
I have a niece who has some mild learning disabilities, and she's definitely a little odd. She ended up having a baby while not married, and gave him up for adoption.

Well, about a month ago she announced on Facebook that she was married. She said she had been married for 2 months already, but she and her new husband wanted to keep it a surprise.

Her new husband sent me (and all family members) a friend request, which I accepted with a bit of hesitation. Call me a cynic, but I was fully expecting to be hit up for money. He chatted with me a few times, and asked me to come to their ring ceremony they are having in February (8 hours drive away).

Then they did the dreaded "joint" Facebook account. Then they sent us notification of a gofundme they have asking for donations for "build houses for the needy and vets. I have my suspicions about how the money might really be used, but that's me being a cynic again.

Then they posted this "For those that can't join us for our ring ceremony are more then welcome to go to Macy's, bed bath and beyond and Walmart and get us a wedding gift from our registry lists."

Then, today, my niece sent me a private message asking me directly for money to help "get back her step kids". She's been married all of 3 months, and wants "her" step kids "back"??? I seriously wonder if she has even met her husband's kids. I doubt she has.

But, as my subject said, here's where it really starts. I KNEW the requests for money would come. This guy has scammer written all over him, and he's using my awkward, mentally- and emotionally-challenged niece to play his game. It makes me sick.

Thank goodness Facebook has an unfriend capability.
