My run in with the law yesterday.
Exiting the freeway coming around a curve in the off ramp, I notice one lane is backed up and other relatively empty. I choose the empty lane and pass about a dozen cars stopped in the other lane. As I come around the corner, I notice the car I'll be stopping behind is a California Highway Patrol cruiser. No big deal.

As I'm slowing to a stop behind him, my right hand slides under my left armpit and grabs my unbuckled seatbelt, and in one motion I pull it across my body and click it in as I smoothly reach to adjust the radio... I sit there very satisfied with myself.

15 seconds later, as I'm grooving to some 80's band, the CHP door swings open and out pops the officer, dressed in his SWAT style jumpsuit. He strides back to my open window as I wonder if the kind gentleman will tell me I have a broken headlight or low air in a front tire. He says to me "you're not as sneaky as you think you are". Turns around and walks back to his cruiser. The light turns green and off we go.

I wish I could report I said something worthwhile, but I'm pretty sure it was something like "yeah, I know...uh, you guys are smart".

Duh. Citation avoided, thank you kind CHP officer for not ruining my holiday.
