A fireside to pump up the team the night before a college football game doesn't seem appropriate to me, it's not what I would use to fire up a football team. I just dont agree with it, I hope I'm entitled to my opinion. I think that time could be better spent doing something else.

The firesides are just one of the most visible manifestations of the bigger problem which is the whole philosophy. Its just the cherry on top of the whole football is 5th, go home early, don't use all of the practice days, starting players with life experience, making players recruit BYU, and did I read that 75% of the team is RM's now. You may be right that there's still enough time to coach football, I don't know.
