we aren't all that far apart
i agree that he isn't having a great year, but i don't think that he's lost "it" or whatever. he was already coming off of off season ankle surgery when he got his other ankle stepped on. that's has nothing to do with his style of play. then he gets hit in the pocket and breaks ribs that aren't going to heal. that's made him more inaccurate.

i know that you're noticing benjamin's bottom line, but i'm sure that you know that fantasy football isn't real football. one great play doesn't make up for three bad ones. but even if he is quality, compound rookie mistakes with not having any other weapons is killer. seriously, who is he supposed to give the ball to? stewart and williams are the first and third leading rushers (newton is second), respectively. check out this stat line: stewart has 323 yards with a 3.8 ypc. williams has 198 with 3.5 ypc. they're 25th in the league, and there only because they have newton running the ball, too. they're terrible. i don't care who you are, you're not going to be successful with benjamin and trash as your weapons. worse, their line is a bunch of backups. losing his best guys on the line was unexpected, and too late.

but again, i agree with you that he is struggling. i just don't think that it's necessarily a newton thing. if they actually support him, he'll be fine.

watch the defense this year. they're a mess. injuries and the loss of hardy has been a killer.
