For everyone (normal, that is) that has needed to write a 5 or 10 page paper for school, we have used "tricks" like increasing the indent, fiddling with the margins, font, or spacing to make sure we could reach the coveted page requirement of a school assignment. Removing the second space will be devastating to all. To all but those kids in school that we all hated, the dreaded overachievers.

Anybody who wants a single space after a sentences is a selfish jerk. Let our children enjoy the benefits that we enjoyed in our day.
