A rivalry implies two parties, and we have a scenario where one opted out.
We don't have a rivalry anymore.
I won't play second fiddle in a 'rivalry" like USU, SDSU, UNLV, Wyoming did with BYU for years.
if half their fan base is anti-Mormon and BYu haters as CB claims, then nothing will hurt Yewtah worse than removing the source of their antagonism.
