but I keep them all locked up and I keep the ammo locked up separately. If one of my kids wants to see and handle a gun, I take it out and let them hold it and teach them how to handle it safely. I never, ever say "no, not right now." This in my opinion kills their curiosity. We also take them shooting quite a bit.
