I understand the hesitancy to not blow the budget with the Zito-like contracts that other teams are fond of. I was also a bit relieved that they didn't sign Lester. I think he's going to bust. However, there are definitive needs and none of them have been filled, while viable options keep getting swept up. Headley would have been a great fill-in at 3rd, and the Giants could afford him. McCarthy isn't worth 4 years but the Giants didn't even pursue him. They let Upton go to the Padres. The 2014 roster was smoke and mirrors and MadBum. That team had no business winning the World Series. And they will go into next year minus Panda and Morse. The pitching staff is shakier than it's ever been. Something needs to happen quick.
