It's not because your Mormon, it's because the Mormon church is a pain...
...to deal with. Literally. A fraternity brother of mine worked for Tech's Chancellor at the time BYU and the Big 12 were talking...and the rumors about BYU being "difficult" to deal with we're true according to him. It's not that BYU necessarily made unreasonable demands, but that BYU was difficult to deal with on EVERY issue...and would ALWAYS by difficult to deal with on every freakin' issue.
