I do.
You feel left out.

You look at your team. You have quality players, consistent success, a history that includes a national championship 30 years ago, and many loyal fans. A Rich conference expanded into your area. In a lot of ways your school was the obvious choice and for their reasons which probably include an assessment on the goals of your institution (excellent undergraduate education with two good graduate professional programs but not other NIH and NSF basic science research with heavy private investment in the results of that research like Howard Hughes Medical Institute or a Nobel Prize for recognition) and the cultural underpinnings of the school (Sponsorship and oversight by the LDS church whose politics some find objectionable) they passed and took your arch rival. A school who's entrance requirements are not as stringent but whose academic programs fall under the now entrenched paradigm of a research heavy institute of higher learning. They don't have as strong a history. Their fans are fickle and treat you badly. This whole thing doesn't jive with BYU student/alum/fan self image of being "Big Brother" to the Utes so you have to convince yourself that everyone is missing a HUGE payday to do this and the only thing that keeps you down is pure oppression by those in power.
I get it.
Adding BYU instead of Utah in 2010 would have made sense. However the economics of adding BYU to a conference which already contains Utah do not make sense in 2014.
I get it. I would feel the same way had things gone the other way. It stinks.

Also that feeling you have of being ignored and marginalized by those with money and power. That's how a lot of people feel about their whole lives not just college athletics. Be grateful your impotent rage is over something so trivial and you live an otherwise great life free of oppression.
