You are FAR more correct than you suspect. Lol.
DeLoss Dodds and ESPN had to actively prevent OU/Tech/OSU and either KU/MU from joining the PAC to protect the fledgling LHN, which Dodds thought would be his greatest legacy as Texas' AD. UT truthfully told the PAC that it could prevent Tech from joining the PAC due to UT's greater influence in the Texas Legislature. Then ESPN, at Dodds' insistence, told the PAC it could add OU, OSU, and Texas a Tech...but ESPN wouldn't increase the PAC's conference tv payout to cover the new conference members unless Texas was one of the new additions. This is the truth about what happened. Scott was ready to take OU/OSU/Tech and either MU or KU because Scott was totally sick of Dodds' never ending Machiavellian maneuvering.

Scott desperately wants central time zone members because PAC games are too late to be relevant to most of the country. However, Scott suggested that three central time zone teams are sufficient, although not ideal, for PAC expansion.
