He turned down scholarships to walk on at BYU.
Hating anyone criticizing the state of BYU's athletic program right now is not a whole lot different than walking into any kindergarten classroom and hating on the ignorant kids and their wall hanging classroom projects. The apologists at this point are the enemies of the BYU program that I love, and that which I've dedicated so much of my life to. I might have my priorities out of whack, because outside of family and work, BYU athletics is pretty much the only thing I care about.

I'm seriously starting to hate the apologists who (unintentionally) are colluding to ruin the BYU athletic program that has meant a lot more to me in my life than it has for most of you devout LDS fans. Try leaving the church, and then going 17 years with the devotion to this program that I have. Try living in Utah County and only associating with good LDS people, and then have them be your only friends. Try having every single one of them razz you for being such a devout BYU fan right now. And try (under all of these circumstances) not backing down, and defending your team.

I don't mind emotional CB responses today. Every one of them shouldn't judged. It was a difficult day. We're all emotional.

But to put things in perspective, today, the CEO of one of my biggest clients scheduled a call for 3:00. He's Robbie Boscoe's next door neighbor and they're really great friends, who (from what he tells me) do a lot of activities together. But he's also a huge Ute fan, even though he's a great LDS guy. Even he sympathized with me as I interjected the play by play during our entire call. He usually just razzes me. He sympathetically told me I could leave the call after that ugly brawl. I was trying to laugh it all off, but it made me sick. I'm sure that he (and everyone else on the call) saw through my "trying to play it cool". I was honestly close to crying. I hated Nacua being highlighted on ESPN bashing the back of that guy's skull (but I would have done it myself, even though I admit it was totally wrong). Nacua will be the first to admit it was wrong.

I judge nobody criticizing the state of BYU football right now (unless it's a disgusting, gloating Yewt). This SUCKS! Yet I still believe this will turn around, one way or another. And I'll be the first to admit that I'll probably drink the kool-aid in August. But if Bronco and Howell are still on the sidelines, that just might put me over the edge.
