I grew up around mountains in Anchorage and then going to school at BYU. I couldn't stand living in a flat area. I have a friend in my ward who is an auditor for the Arctic Slope Regional Corp and he travels to Barrow monthly. It's pretty bleak and there's not a lot to do. For that reason the high school basketball team gets tons of community support and attendance for their games.
