The companies I've seen offer it don't contribute to the Hsa and it makes it
Seem pointless. For example, with a 2500 deductible and a monthly premium for someone who has only minor medical problem, you are paying a lot for coverage that never kicks in.

That is why I have always chosen an HMO plan with a nominal fee to see a doctor and deductible is waived for most small things.

If employer doesn't contribute and you have a family, the HSA very expensive.
